Track views and clicks

Sanil Ads Kit counts how often each ad is seen and clicked, and shows the numbers inside WordPress. There is nothing to install or switch on: tracking starts as soon as an ad is shown on your site.

See every ad at a glance

Go to Sanil Ads Kit → All Ads. Next to each ad you will see three columns:

  • Views: how many times the ad was seen.
  • Clicks: how many times visitors clicked it.
  • CTR: the click-through rate, which is clicks divided by views.

These are all-time totals. Click a column heading to sort, for example to put your best performers at the top.

Open one ad’s report

Open an ad and scroll to the Analytics box.

  1. Choose the period. Click 7d, 30d or 90d, or pick a start and end date and click Apply.
  2. Read the totals. Views, Clicks and CTR for that period are at the top.
  3. Read the chart. It shows views and clicks for each day.
  4. Look at the breakdowns. Countries and Pages list views and clicks for each country and each page the ad appeared on. Peak Click Hours shows when visitors click most.

How views and clicks are counted

  • A view is counted when at least half of the ad is visible in the visitor’s browser. An ad far down the page counts only when the visitor scrolls to it.
  • Each ad is counted once per browser session. Reloading the page or visiting a second page with the same ad does not add another view until the visitor starts a new session.
  • A click is counted each time a visitor clicks the ad’s link.
  • Numbers are stored by hour, ad, page and country.
Note

Clicks are only counted on Image and HTML ads that have a Click URL. iFrame, Script / Embed and Google AdSense ads still count views, but the plugin cannot see clicks that happen inside them. See Choose the right ad type.

Send events to Google Analytics

If Google Analytics (gtag.js) or Google Tag Manager is already on your site, the plugin also sends an ad_impression event for each view and an ad_click event for each click. They carry the ad ID and title and the page, and clicks also carry the link address. You do not need to configure anything. If you have no Google tag, nothing is sent.
