Does analytics store personal data?
No IP addresses, cookies or user identifiers are stored. The plugin makes no requests to outside services.
What is stored
For each view or click, the plugin adds to a counter in your own WordPress database (the amkit_ads_stats table):
- The ad.
- The page it appeared on.
- The hour.
- The visitor’s country.
How the country is found
The country comes from the visitor’s IP address, looked up in a database that is bundled with the plugin (DB-IP Lite). The lookup runs on your own server. The IP address is used for that moment only. It is never stored and never sent anywhere.
Cookies and the browser
The plugin sets no cookies. To avoid counting the same view twice, the visitor’s browser remembers which ads it has already counted for the current session only, using sessionStorage. It is cleared when the visitor closes the tab.
Google Analytics and Tag Manager
If Google Analytics (gtag.js) or Google Tag Manager is already on your site, the plugin also sends ad_impression and ad_click events to it. That is handled by your existing Google tag, so include it in your own privacy policy. Without a Google tag on your site, nothing is sent.
Removing the data
- Permanently deleting an ad deletes its statistics.
- Deleting the plugin with Action on uninstall turned on deletes all statistics. See Remove all plugin data when you uninstall.
Whether your site needs a consent notice depends on where your visitors are and how your Google tag is set up. Sanil Ads Kit does not decide that for you.
