Work down this list. Most missing ads are one of the first four.

Check these in order

  1. Is the ad published? A draft, a pending or a trashed ad never shows. A scheduled ad shows only after its start time.
  2. Has it expired? Open the ad and look at Expiry in the Publish box. See Schedule an ad.
  3. Does it have a place? An ad needs a placement, a group in a placement, a shortcode or a block. The Shortcode box on the ad’s edit screen lists the Groups and Placements it belongs to.
  4. Is the placement or group in the Trash? A trashed placement or group stops showing. Restore it from the Trash view of Placements or Groups.
  5. Is the page the right kind? Before Content, After Content and After First Paragraph only work on single posts and pages, not on the home page, archives or search results.
  6. Do the targeting rules allow this page? An “is not” condition that matches hides the ad. Remove the conditions temporarily to test. See Show ads only on the pages you choose.
  7. Is the device right? Check Show On. An ad set to Mobile Only does not show on a desktop screen.
  8. Is it a group? Make sure the group contains published ads, and check Visible Ads in the group settings.
  9. Is it a popup you already saw? Popups can be limited by Show Frequency to once per session, per day or every few days. Test in a private window.
  10. Is a cache serving an old page? Clear your caching plugin and your CDN. See Ads and caching plugins.
  11. Is it a Script / Embed or AdSense ad? If the person who saved it could not post unfiltered HTML, it was saved as plain HTML. See AdSense or script ads are saved as HTML.
Note

Browser ad blockers hide many ads, including your own. Test with extensions turned off, or in a private window. If a blocker is active while you are in the WordPress admin, the plugin’s screens show a notice about it.

Still nothing?
