English text turns into Nepali letters
You converted a text that mixes English and Preeti, and the English words came out as Nepali letters, or numbers became letters.
Why it happens
Preeti types Nepali letters on ordinary keys. So the Preeti text g]kfnL and the English word hello are both just Latin characters, and the converter cannot tell them apart. It converts every letter it gets.
Numbers work the same way. In Preeti, the number keys type conjunct letters. The real Nepali numerals are typed with Shift, so a Latin 1 means ज्ञ, and ! means १.
What to do
- Convert only the Preeti parts. Copy the Preeti sentences and leave the English words out.
- Put the English back. Paste the Unicode result into your document and type or paste the English words where they belong.
- Check numbers. If your source shows numerals as symbols such as
!,@and#, they convert to १, २ and ३. If your source shows plain Latin digits and you meant real numbers, type those numbers again in the converted text.
Note
For a long document with a lot of English, convert it section by section. See Move an old Preeti document to Unicode.
