Find your message below.

“Not an image”

The file is not a picture the tools know, for example a document or a video. Add a JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, SVG or HEIC file.

“Can’t open this file. It may be damaged, or it may not be an image.”

The file may be damaged, or its extension may not match what it really is. Try opening it in another program. If it opens there, save a copy as a JPG or PNG and add that.

“This photo needs more memory than the device has. Resize it first, or use a computer.”

Very large photos need a lot of memory, and phones have less. Use Resize to make it smaller first, or open Image Tools on a computer.

“This is an animated image…”

Convert, Resize and the other tools keep only the first frame of an animated GIF, WebP or AVIF. To make an animation smaller and keep it moving, use Compress.

“This browser is too old to process images”

Update your browser, or open the page in a current Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.

The file is the wrong kind for this tool

A HEIC dropped into Compress, or a PNG dropped onto the JPG compressor, still appears in the list with a message saying what to do. Follow it, or open the right tool from the menu. See Which Image Tools tool do I need?
