Resize by
| Option | Use it when |
|---|---|
| Pixels | A form or website asks for an exact width and height |
| Percent | You just want a smaller copy, for example 50 |
| Longest side | A batch mixes portrait and landscape and all must fit one limit |
| Social media size | You want a ready size, such as Instagram post (1080 × 1350 px) or Instagram story (1080 × 1920 px) |
Two options worth knowing
- Keep aspect ratio is on by default, so changing the width changes the height too and the picture is never stretched. Turn it off to set both sides yourself.
- Never enlarge leaves a picture that is already smaller than your size as it is. A small picture stretched bigger only looks blurry.
Social media sizes
The picture fits inside the size and nothing is cut off, so a picture with a different shape ends up shorter on one side. To fill a shape exactly, crop first. See Crop, rotate and flip images or Make several sizes from one image.
Resizing does not change the format. A JPG stays a JPG, and a PNG keeps its transparency.
