Share your Wi-Fi with a printed QR code
This tutorial makes a small sign that lets guests join your Wi-Fi with one scan.
Make the sign
- Make the code. Open the Wi-Fi tab in the generator, enter the network name and password, and choose the security type. See Make a Wi-Fi QR code for each field.
- Download an SVG. It stays sharp at any size. Use PNG if your program cannot open SVG.
- Put it in a document. In a word processor or design tool, place the code on a plain white page. Make it at least 3 cm (about an inch) wide, and leave a clear margin around it.
- Add a line of text. Put it above or below the code, such as the network name and “Scan to join”. Keep the text away from the code itself.
- Print and test. Scan the printed sign with a phone that has not joined the network before. If it does not connect, see A Wi-Fi QR code does not connect.
- Put it up. Stand it where guests wait or sit, away from glare.
Keep it up to date
Note
If you change the Wi-Fi password later, the printed code stops working. Make a new one and replace the sign.
