Change the colors

  1. Open a color box. Click Foreground (the squares of the code) or Background (the space behind them).
  2. Choose a color. Drag in the picker, or type a hex code such as #14161A in the box below it.
  3. Check the preview. It is on the right and updates straight away.
  4. Download and test. Scan the downloaded file, not just the preview.

Keep it scannable

  • Dark on light works best. The default is a near-black foreground on white.
  • Do not swap them. A light foreground on a dark background is an inverted code, and many scanner apps cannot read those.
  • Keep strong contrast. Pale yellow on white or two similar blues can look fine to you and fail on a phone.
  • Match your brand with a dark shade. A dark navy or deep green works. A bright orange on white often does not.

If a colored code will not scan, set it back to dark on white to confirm the rest is fine. See My QR code will not scan.
